1 video series - Environmental, social and governance requirements of international investors

As part of the International Sustainability Webinars 2024 project, the Association of Sustainable Development Experts is launching a series of informative videos on the topic of non-financial requirements. The first series of videos is published on the topic "Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Requirements of International Investors."
During the video, ASDE member Yevgeniya Afanasenko, ESG professional and Principal Environmental Advisor at the EBRD, will discuss:● ESG principles of sustainable investing,● the history of ESG standards,● directions in ESG investing,● requirements of international financial institutions for project implementation,● assessment and management of environmental and social risks,● supply chain management.

Webinar "Transition of the banking sector to ESG principles"

The focus of the webinar is on challenges and opportunities in transitioning the financial sector of Ukraine towards ESG principles. International forum

International Sustainability Forum 2023

To support Ukraine, ASDE organized a two-day international forum in the Netherlands and Ukraine
The goal is to consolidate stakeholders, including the business sector in Ukraine and the EU, to have an effective and practical discussion on what needs to be done to rebuild Ukraine. Since the start of the war, Ukrainian cities and businesses have faced unprecedented challenges that have had a devastating impact on business and the natural environment

Sustainability Recovery Guidance

Sustainability Recovery Guidance is a unique series of webinars that will help fill information gaps on sustainability, best ESG practices, and methods of accessing green finance. Each webinar is dedicated to a specific area and direction. It includes a plenary discussion by invited speakers, a Q&A session for participants, and a summary by an ASDE expert.

The webinars are released once a month, every last Thursday. Duration of the series: 1.5-2 hours.

Environmental, socio-demographic and economic challenges of medium and large business in the agricultural sector

ASDE and WWF-Ukraine conducted a research on the topic: "Environmental, socio-demographic and economic challenges of medium and large business in the agricultural sector", analyzing the activities of the agricultural sector of Ukraine during the war.

The research covered 11 representatives of Ukrainian agribusiness and about 750,000 hectares of land, taking into account different physical and geographical conditions in 19 regions of Ukraine.

War and Post-War Economic Recovery Through an ESG Focus Podcast

On May 11, 2023 was recorded a podcast with Yuliya Holodkova, an experienced ESG/Corporate Governance expert, IFC ECA ESG Program Coordinator in Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina.The podcast was hosted by Alina Sokolenko, an international expert on sustainable finance and investment, Head of the Association of Sustainable Development Experts.
During the podcast, the experts discussed:- the main results of the cooperation between IFC and the NBU on the development of ESG regulation (reliance on existing EU regulation, considerations of the specifics of the Ukrainian market, etc;)- IFC's role and participation in promoting ESG among businesses;- technical/educational/other support programs in the field of ESG;- specifics of the implementation and operation of the IFC's Integrated ESG Program and cooperation with the Association of Sustainable Development Experts.

Environmental, Social and Governance Program

ASDE is the only organization in Ukraine that cooperates with IFC's Integrated ESG Programme, which is implemented in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO to promote and support the development and integration of ESG standards and practices in the private sector in Ukraine.

The cooperation will help ASDE expand its knowledge of the integrated ESG approach that addresses critical ESG topics, including effective environmental and social risk management, climate management, and sustainability reporting..

Research of Ukrainian business needs

ASDE conducted a study of the needs of small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine after the full-scale invasion.
The study surveyed 527 respondents. Most expressed interest in grant programs, lending, and investment.

International Sustainability Forum 2022

International Sustainability Forum - an annual international forum on sustainable development, which this year we held on October 6, 2022. The forum consisted of four discussion panels with international and Ukrainian experts in the field of sustainability and investment, who answered the question: How can state regulators ensure recovery? What should be corporate governance to overcome global threats? How can Ukrainian businesses turn the environmental and social risks associated with the war into new financing opportunities? Are there chances for transition to a green economy through sustainable recovery in the new geopolitical reality?
Our main goal is to create a regional sustainable business ecosystem for the recovery and development of the economy based on the principles of sustainability for the transformation to a green economy and a sustainable civil society


Expert opinion on sustainable development

These are five series-programs on ESG criteria, financial reporting, "green economy, lending, investments and the impact of banking on sustainable development.
All so that in the conditions of war, small and medium-sized businesses hear the opinion of experts: how to survive and become sustainable?

International Sustainability Forum 2021

The International Sustainability Forum is the first international educational forum on sustainability in Ukraine, which we held on June 17-18, 2021. The event brought together participants from 7 countries and garnered millions of views
The purpose of the forum is to raise awareness of sustainability, contribute to the formation of a culture of sustainable development, and promote the development of a green economy. After all, the formation of a culture of sustainable development in Ukraine is a relevant topic due to the constant growth of interest in solving global challenges in various fields: agriculture, IT, energy, retail, development industry, chemical, and even creative. That is why we launched an annual international event with an emphasis on education and practical business cases.

Series of webinars

ECA Sustainability Community of Practice

In September 2020, AVgroup, the Association of Sustainability Development Experts (ASDE) and the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO) launched a series of webinars on sustainability in agribusiness.

The aim of the project was to disseminate knowledge about the best ESG practices and increase the availability of green financing, taking into account the needs of regional agribusinesses in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
